Winter
Fire Force
The final stretch of the Fire Force anime picks up where Season 3 Part 1 left off: Company 8 and allies head deeper into the White-Clad’s plans as the threat of a Second Great Cataclysm looms. Shinra and crew face new horrors and revelations tied to the Evangelist’s true ambition, escalating into world-shaking confrontations and deeper lore about Adolla and reality-bending powers.
Fire Force continues January 10th.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End
As Frieren continues her journey with Fern and Stark, the story will dig deeper into what it means to live after the age of heroes, testing them through tougher battles. The focus is likely to remain introspective, but with higher stakes, and we should see more of Frieren’s emotional growth in Season 2.
Frieren was this year’s standout anime for me, having only caught up on the 2023 series this past month.
Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End continues January 16th.
Trigun STARGAZE
A modern revival of Trigun (following the first season, STAMPEDE) reimagines the classic sci-fi western. On the harsh planet No-Man’s Land, a legendary gunslinger named Vash (“the Humanoid Typhoon”) roams with a pacifist creed, pursued by bounty hunters and opposed by a cruel master plan tied to his twin brother, Millions Knives. Expect stylised action, philosophical themes about violence and mercy, and the return of some unforgettable characters.
The new Trigun series continues with STARGAZE on January 10th.
Jujutsu Kaisen
Season 3 adapts the Culling Game, a brutal, battle-royale arc where sorcerers and newly awakened fighters in cursed territories battle under strict rules. After fallout from the Shibuya Incident, Yuji, Megumi and others dive into this deadly contest, trying to survive and outsmart each other, while surviving the mastermind Kenjaku’s grand scheme.
Jujutsu Kaisen continues January 8th.
The Ghost in the Shell
Science SARU’s take on The Ghost in the Shell reinterprets the franchise, blending kinetic animation with a stripped-back, cerebral tone. Set in a near-future society where the line between human consciousness and artificial identity has all but collapsed, the series follows Major Motoko Kusanagi as she investigates cybercrimes that blur philosophy, politics, and selfhood.
This new series starts some time in January.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run
Steel Ball Run covers Part 7 of JoJo, set in the 1890s American frontier. It follows Johnny Joestar, a paraplegic ex-jockey, and Gyro Zeppeli, a charismatic Spin master, as they compete in a cross-continental horse race with a hidden agenda involving holy relics and evolving Stand abilities. With a fresh art and narrative style distinct from previous JoJo parts, Steel Ball Run is a great chance for those new to the franchise to experience this bizarre world.
Jojo is back, from March 19th.
Re: Zero – Starting Life in Another World
A dark fantasy where death is only the beginning, blending psychological tension with high-stakes fantasy politics. Season 4 is expected to handle the aftermath of the Sanctuary arc and see protagonist Subaru handle the emotional fallout, political conflicts, and more confrontations with the Witch Cult’s remnants.
Exact dates to be announced.
Dr. Stone: Science Future Part 3
The conclusion of Season 3 centers on the clash between two opposing ideologies as Senku and his rivals race to out-innovate one another. Strategy, invention, and leadership take precedence over raw strength, with each breakthrough tipping the balance in subtle ways. This final chapter of the season resolves the New World conflict while reinforcing the series’ core theme: science as a tool for rebuilding, cooperation, and the future of humanity.
Exact dates to be announced.
Mushoku Tensei Season 3
Rudeus Greyrat’s journey continues. Season 3 will likely expand on the political intrigue, adult Rudeus’s conflicts with inner and outer demons, and delve deeper into storylines involving his companions, family, and the fate of the world. It’s a mix of isekai fantasy growth and introspection tied to maturity.
Exact dates to be announced.
Dorohedoro
The long-awaited continuation lands in 2026, carrying on the gritty, chaotic tale of Caiman (the lizard-headed amnesiac) and Nikaido in The Hole, a gritty world full of sorcerers. Season 2 is expected to adapt more of the manga’s bizarre conflicts and mysteries, and we might finally learn the truth behind Caiman’s curse.
No trailer yet, but fans will have time to catch up on the first season before the show returns in Spring, with exact dates to be announced.
And more…
Though exact dates haven’t been confirmed, I’ll keep my fingers crossed for Dungeon Meshi season 2 and DanDaDan season 3 at some point in 2026.
And whilst not strictly animated, the live action One Piece returns to Netflix, with season 2 dropping March 20th.
What are you looking forward to in 2026?
